It Was Our First Swingers Party in 10 Years and I Have Feedback for the Hosts
Recently we attended a swingers party, receiving some feedback from a community member looking for thoughts from me. I tried to be as honest as possible. Give a read and listen. If you have any thoughts, feel free to email me at MizzyBender@outlook.com
Swingers Thoughts Submitted to Mizzy Bender:
She works really hard in the three hours leading up to us going to the party on our outfits. Trying to come up with something that will look nice and be colorful at the same time. We get there and no one even acknowledged our presence. We barely got a wave out of the hosts. Already, XXX is feeling very uneasy. This is her first party in over ten years. And, the last one she went to made her feel as though she had to strip naked and give herself to the whims of every guy in the club. She's not feeling welcomed or even wanted at this event. She sees the other women there and can't help but compare herself to them. This is where you and Lady made the greatest impression though and this was wonderful to see. You both told her to leave that baggage at the door and just own the incredible, sexy woman that she is. That's what I've been trying to help her see this whole time. But, despite your efforts, no one else engaged us and the hosts made no effort to introduce us to anyone as newbies. This is where everyone, not just the hosts, could do better. You, me, anyone at any event should be making newcomers feel welcomed and invited. Introduce them to others and insert them into conversations that they normally would have no clue how to get into without being extremely rude. Which is what happened to us. The advice we got was, "just make yourselves known. Put yourselves out there." Easier said than done when you don't want to come off as an asshole for interrupting someone else. This is where hosts can play a major role! As a host, they can politely interrupt a conversation to introduce new people and get them acquainted to the others and interacting with them. Breaking the ice gracefully. This can be extended to anyone in the group as well. If they see someone new, make them feel welcomed and introduce them to others. From my readings, this is a typical obstacle for many newcomers. If we can all work together to make people aware of this, we have the potential to gain many more participants and to make those that would otherwise be dissuaded from trying again to continue pursuing this adventure. XXX and I were not turned off from the lifestyle or the people at that event by any means. And, we want to make that very clear to everyone. The rave scene just isn't for us. But, we may have had a better experience if someone had brought us into a group. We honestly can't say. But, after we left, we took a walk down town and reflected on it together to come up with this constructive criticism for everyone. What are your thoughts?
