Canada, Travel and Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone

The last couple of weeks have been absolutely fucking wild in the best possible way.

We went to Canada. We explored Toronto and Niagara Falls. We experienced X Club/Mermaid Lounge with My Frisky Business. I conquered the CN Tower even though being that high in the sky is absolutely NOT my thing. I flew without allowing my anxiety to take control. I got sick, actually listened to my body, rested when I needed to, and then somehow ended up dancing my face off with 35,000 people at my first massive EDM event. I'm overcoming anxiety and living life again.

Earlier this year, when I was struggling, I knew something in my life needed to change. I needed balance. I needed everyday experiences outside of the lifestyle. I needed structure. I needed to interact with people again. I needed adventures that had absolutely nothing to do with work or business. Most importantly, I needed to start listening to myself, even when choosing myself meant disappointing someone else or temporarily making less money.

Now I’m starting to see what all of those decisions were leading toward.

This week’s Mornings with Mizzy is a giant catch-up on Canada, lifestyle adventures, our first huge rave experience, learning when NOT to push myself, finding balance between lifestyle and vanilla life, and all of those tiny moments where I’ve caught myself thinking, holy shit… look how far you’ve come.

The lifestyle will always be part of my world, but it isn’t my entire world. Neither is business. Neither is social media.

I want ALL of it.

I want travel and new experiences. I want ridiculous nights dancing with Spencer. I want lifestyle adventures. I want quiet weekends. I want new places, new food, new people and things that scare me just enough to remind me that I’m alive.

After everything I went through earlier this year, I made a commitment to myself to embrace the experiences in front of me instead of letting fear decide whether I get to have them.

And lately? Life has been giving me a whole lot to say YES to.

FAQ

Can you travel if you have anxiety?

Yes. Having anxiety doesn't automatically mean you have to stop traveling or experiencing new things. For me, traveling has actually given me opportunities to recognize how far I've come. I may still experience uncomfortable thoughts or moments, but I'm learning that feeling uncomfortable doesn't automatically mean I'm going to spiral.

How do you start living again after struggling with anxiety?

For me, it has been about small experiences rather than one giant breakthrough. Going back to work, interacting with people every day, traveling, flying, trying new things and learning to trust myself again have all played a role. Every experience gives me another opportunity to remind myself that I can do this.

Can stepping outside your comfort zone help with anxiety?

My experience has been that doing things outside of my comfort zone has helped me recognize the difference between actually being in danger and simply feeling uncomfortable. Flying, going up the CN Tower and attending an event with thousands of people were all situations that once could have triggered me much more intensely. Experiencing them without spiraling felt like huge wins.

Why is balance important when rebuilding your life?

I realized I didn't want my life to revolve around one thing. I love the lifestyle, my businesses and everything I've built, but I also need everyday adventures, travel, relationships, work, downtime and experiences that are just for me. Finding that balance has been a huge part of feeling fulfilled again.

What is Mornings with Mizzy?

Mornings with Mizzy is where I talk about whatever is happening in my world, from everyday life and personal growth to relationships, travel, the swinger lifestyle and everything in between. It's not about fitting into one topic. It's about real life and the conversations that come with it.
