Mizzy Bender's Lifestyle Journey: The Day I Met My Ex-Husband

The following week I was on social media, I’m not entirely sure what platform, but I received a message from a guy. Chat rooms and things like that were all over the place back then. I wasn’t so active in them, but I knew of them. When I received the message it wasn’t like it was so far fetched.
We started chatting, with the conversation going well. He lived local to me and was 1.5-2 years older than me. I think a week went by before we finally made the date to meet. He worked overnight shifts so he slept a lot of the day. There was a window in the evening that worked best for him to hang out. The night we agreed to meet, he invited me to his house, where he lived with his parents.
In great Mizzy fashion my arrival was ridiculous. Here I am on the phone with him as he is giving me directions to his house. He is standing outside as I pull up…. And bam! Right up the curb on to the grass and back down again. Oops. a wee bit embarrassing. For whatever the reason, he went back inside and his dad let me in. As soon as I entered his first question to me was… are you even legal? LMAO. I mean, I looked young, but goodness.
I showed up wearing a crop sweatshirt and low riser bell bottoms with my hair thrown up in a messy bun. I truly was not looking for anything other than friends. With all these new changes going on in my life, I wanted to find more humans close to home. I still saw and chatted with my girlfriend who brought me into the bar, but she had a job shift and was occupied a lot of the time. My girlfriend who lived next store to me was now living with her boyfriend and it was extremely toxic and dysfunctional so that relationship completely shifted as well. I felt like I was starting new.
That night, when I met this guy from online, I laughed and laughed and laughed. He was so silly. He worked at a local bread factor, managing something having to do with the freezer section. Because of this, he had to wear full weather gear. The overall things he had to wear I found to be hilarious. Because of this, he stepped up a notch, acting like a farmer, doing a little dance in them, making me laugh like I was 5 years old. It was ridiculous. Whatever thought I had of just being friends went right out the door.
From that night on, we never spent a day apart. I am shocked by my blindness. I am stunned at how easily I can compromise myself. I am ashamed for not seeing things sooner.
I always see posts on social media that ask - If you had to do anything different in life, would you? My answer is always no, because then I wouldn't be where I am today. I can't really understand why I had to endure so much to get to this point, but I did. It built me. BUT - If I had to go back and change time.... This would be night I would do all over again.
